Great Maine Apple Day:

Celebrate the History, Flavor, and Tradition of Maine Apples

Coming up October 21st from noon to 4 is the Great Maine Apple Day. This will take place at the Common Ground Education Center on 294 Crosby Brook Rd., Unity Maine. Admission is $4 and $2 for members of MOFGA and Maine Pomological Society.

This will include educational workshops and talks, including apple art, Maine’s rich apple history, cider making, and organic tree care. You will also be able to see and taste rare and heirloom apples as well as bring your own varieties to be identified and sampled.

There will be various vendors offering apples, apple products, home-made goodies, cheeses, honey, wine, and other local products.

There will be an apple pie contest at 3:30 so bring your own pie to taste. Be sure to include a label with all ingredients and label your pie plate with your name and mailing address.

Common Ground Country Fair:

Coming up for the weekend of September 21st through 23rd is the Common Ground Country Fair in Unity, Maine. This fair is presented by MOFGA and from what is a blast.

The schedule for the fair is up. There will be various speakers, bands, and farms. Along with the farms attending is Fisher Farm, so they will not be at the market on this weekend. Sadly, pets will not be allowed so please don’t bring them. Hopefully you will attend the fair.

Here are the ticket prices, and be sure to note that volunteers can get in for free, so think about it. There will also be camping if you decide to stay the weekend and don’t have the pleasure of living near Unity. Enjoy!
